Instrumental Music

The band and string programs are supported by dedicated music staff who work with students across both areas.

Instrumental Music students receive a 30-minute small group lesson and participate in a large ensemble rehearsal each week. Introductory lessons begin in Week 2, with official lessons and rehearsals starting in Week 3. A lesson timetable is emailed to families and class teachers at the beginning of each term. Please refer to this timetable for the days your child needs to bring their instrument to school and the specific time of their group lesson.

Ensemble Rehearsals
Rehearsal times and starting dates are as follows:

  • Junior Band: Monday afternoons, 3:00 – 4:00pm

  • Senior Band: Tuesday afternoons, 3:00 – 4:00pm

  • Intermediate Strings: Thursday mornings, 8:00 – 8:40am

  • Beginner Strings: Wednesday afternoons, 3:00 – 4:00pm

  • Senior Strings: Thursday afternoons, 3:00 – 4:00pm

Parents of students in the program are required to pay a yearly $100 Student Resource Scheme Fee to support the running costs of the Instrumental Music Program. If a student participates in both band and strings, only one $100 payment is required. Students hiring a school instrument will also pay an additional annual $120 instrument hire fee, which contributes to the servicing and maintenance of the instrument. There is no additional charge for tuition.

Scheduled Performances Throughout the Year Include:

  • Cluster Workshops

  • Gold Coast Eisteddfod

  • Magic of Music (Semester 1 and Semester 2)

  • Community Events
