Merrimac is currently unable to accept short term enrolments as we are at capacity in class groups.

Merrimac State School, the City School in the Country, has been accredited as an Education Queensland International School (ISP). Students enrolled in this program need to have a student visa and the parents need to have a guardian visa.  Initial enquires need to be directed to Education Queensland International (EQI) who will provide all details in relation to enrolments. Students can be enrolled as dependent students, however these enrolments also need to be made initially through Education Queensland International.

Merrimac is a coeducational Independent Public School located on Queensland's Gold Coast between Surfers Paradise and the Hinterland. The school has an enrolment of around 645 students from Prep to Year 6. The original school opened in 1917 and since then has grown steadily into a 21st Century educational setting, serving its community. The first school building is still housed on the school grounds which are surrounded by a bush setting with neighbouring international golf courses. Our school services a wide area with many families passing other local schools to attend Merrimac.

The school offers a balanced curriculum with a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, STEM, ICT, Sport and Arts. Japanese is taught from PREP. There is a strong focus on the Arts with Choir, Band and Strings offered to children in Year 3 to 6.  The school's aim is to develop students who possess the necessary characteristics and skills in order to become successful and active members of the wider community.

Families are invited to discover Merrimac State School’s unique charm as the City School in the Country as shown on our website. Alternatively families can read the information contained in the International Parent and Student Handbook.

Currently Merrimac State School is not enrolling students on visitor or tourist visas. Further information about international student enrolments can be accessed from the Education Queensland International website.
