School grounds and classrooms

Merrimac prides itself on its attractive grounds and nature setting. Many a visitor comments on the attractive setting and relaxed atmosphere it creates. Over the years many projects have been undertaken to maintain the 'country' feel. Merrimac is proud of its facilities including the tennis court, basketball court, cricket nets, various play forts, sand pits and school oval.

Original School - 1917

Merrimac school has a mixture of the old and the new ranging from the original one teacher school opened in 1917 through to modern designs such as our Multipurpose Centre constructed in 2005. Visitors arriving the school office soon appreciate the natural setting in which Merrimac is located.

As the school has grown additional buildings have been constructed which reflect the designs of the era. In recent years a number of non permanent buildings have been constructed.

In 2005 a Multipurpose Centre (MPC) was constructed which includes a sports hall, stage, conference room and Outside School Hours Care facilities.  This building was jointly funded by the P&C Association and the Education Queensland grants.

In 2010 a Performing Arts Centre (PAC) was constructed which includes an assembly hall, science centre, conference room office and well equipped kitchen.  This building was funded through the Federal Government Building Educational Revolution.
