Music

Merrimac offers an extensive music program covering all classes from Preschool to Year 7, along with offerings in Instrumental Programs. Visiting instrumental teachers provide tuition, band and ensemble opportunities for:

  • percussion
  • keyboard
  • woodwind and brass
  • strings

Students also have the opportunity to join the Junior or Senior choirs.

An Annual Talent Quest is conducted covering dance, drama, instrumental and speech categories.

Merrimac participates in the annual Tropicarnival Eisteddfod, having won the Strings Ensemble section in 2005.

Merrimac also performs at various shopping centres, nursing homes and special school events such as Anzac Day, Badge Presentation, Carols by Candlelight and the Magic of Music.

In 2003 and 2004 Merrimac participated in the Wakakirri Story Dance competition. The children were highly placed in 2003.
