Journal - Monday 15 September

Our kids crashed last night and slept very well. All were up and ready to go at 7.00 a.m. for breakfast. Both coaches departed at 8.15 a.m. with one going to Telstra Tower and the other to the Science Discovery Centre. The wind was very strong at Telstra Tower which was amusing for the kids on the observation deck. Group 1 enjoyed a very informative session at Old Parliament House before meeting with Group 2 in the Rose Garden for lunch.

After lunch both groups headed to new Parliament House for a tour of the House of Representatives and the Senate before heading to the roof top. The students enjoyed a Parliamentary Education session where they assumed various roles in the chamber to debate a bill about introducing rainwater tanks into all Australian homes. It was great to see our students debate a range of issues.

As I write Bus 1 is at the Discovery Centre dressed in their white robes while Bus 2 has headed for Cockington Green. We will all meet back at Eaglehawk for showers before going out to dinner at Hog's Breath Cafe. I am sure everyone will be ready for a reasonably earlier to bed.

Our students have settled in good routines and are mixed very well. They are rising to our expectations and settling a good example for our school. It is pleasing that we continue to get positive comments from complete strangers.

The weather is average - windy and at times rainy but thankfully not too cold.

We will endeavour to get the photos uploaded after dinner tonight - the challenge is finding an internet connection as we are not always able to get to the Eaglehawk office before closing time.
